If you've only just started looking into the world of CBD products, you've probably come across a lot of terms, concentrations and forms that are hard to make sense of. Oils, flowers, balms, full-spectrum extracts, percentages on the label – without a basic orientation, choosing your first product can be confusing. This article is written exactly for you: complete beginners who want to understand what CBD products actually are, how the different forms differ from one another, and how to choose that first step without unnecessary guesswork. You'll find all the products mentioned in the CBD Lifestyle section of our online shop, and they are intended exclusively for people aged 18 and over.

What CBD is and how it differs from other cannabinoids

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of the naturally occurring substances in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, CBD has no psychoactive effect in the sense of intoxication – it's a substance that in recent years has found its way into the regular range of shops in the form of oils, flowers, balms and other everyday products. It's important to bear in mind that CBD products are not medicines and are not intended to treat or diagnose any illness. In this article, then, we'll focus purely on what the individual products are and how they're used, not on what they "do" to the body.

Besides classic CBD, we also offer other legal cannabinoids in our shop, such as HHC or THCP, which we've covered in separate, detailed articles. But if you're at the very beginning, we recommend starting with classic CBD – it's the most widespread and best-documented option, and one you can safely use to gain your first experience.

CBD oil and how it's used

CBD oil is probably the best-known and most widely used form of CBD product. It's sold in a small bottle with a dropper, which allows precise, drop-by-drop dosing. Typically, the oil is dripped under the tongue, left to take effect for a short while (usually a few dozen seconds), and only then swallowed. This method of use is called sublingual and is popular precisely because it's simple, requires no equipment, and the bottle easily fits into a pocket or bag.

How to get started with oil

For a complete beginner, the key thing is to focus mainly on comfort of use and gradually getting to know the product, rather than on how many drops you "must" take. A practical approach might look like this:

  • Shake the bottle briefly before use so the contents are evenly mixed.
  • Drip a small number of drops under the tongue and let them take effect for a moment before swallowing.
  • Build taking it into a regular daily routine, for example morning or evening, so you keep track of when you used the oil.
  • Store the bottle in a cool, dark place out of the reach of children.

In our shop we offer CBD oil in two concentrations – CBD 10% full-spectrum oil 10ml and CBD 15% full-spectrum oil 10ml. Both have the same bottle volume (10ml) and differ only in the amount of CBD per drop.

What "full-spectrum" means

On CBD product labels, you'll often come across the term "full spectrum". This means that, besides CBD itself, the extract also contains other natural components of the cannabis plant – that is, a broader spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes and other plant compounds that naturally occur in cannabis. The opposite is an isolate, which contains only pure CBD with no other accompanying compounds.

Full-spectrum products are manufactured and sold in the Czech Republic in accordance with applicable legislation, meaning the THC content is kept within the legally permitted limit. For a beginner, the main thing to understand is that "full spectrum" on the label tells you what type of extract you're holding – it's not information about strength of effect, but about the product's composition.

CBD flowers as an alternative to oil

The second popular form is CBD flowers – dried cannabis flowers containing CBD, which differ from oil mainly in how they're used. While oil is dripped under the tongue and then swallowed, flowers are typically used differently, most often with the help of a vaporiser. We've devoted a separate, detailed article to vaporisers for CBD and HHC products, if you'd like to learn more about that topic.

For a complete beginner, the main thing to know is that this is a completely different form of product from oil – different handling, different storage (dried flowers need to be protected from moisture and light), and a different way of dosing, which isn't based on drops but on the amount of material. In our shop we offer CBD Fireplace flowers 2g, a smaller, practical pack suited to trying out this form for the first time.

Why try flowers instead of oil

Some users prefer flowers because of the more natural form of the product without further processing, while others prefer oil for its simplicity and portability. There's no single "correct" form – it's purely a matter of personal preference and which method of use suits you better.

Topical balm – a completely different method of use

The third form you'll come across in the CBD Lifestyle section is topical balm. Unlike oil and flowers, balm is not taken orally or vaporised – it's a product intended for application to the surface of the skin. The consistency of the balm resembles classic body balms or ointments, just with CBD added.

Use is simple: a small amount of balm is applied to the chosen area and massaged into the skin. Thanks to its topical form, this product is suitable for those who, for whatever reason, don't want to take CBD orally or by inhalation and prefer external application. We offer a 50ml balm with 750mg CBD, whose packaging and consistency are designed specifically for this type of use.

How to choose the right concentration to start with

One of the most common questions from beginners is which oil concentration to choose. The difference between the 10% oil and the 15% oil lies in the amount of CBD contained in a single drop – with the 15% oil, this amount is higher. The practical recommendation for complete beginners is usually simple: start with the lower concentration, i.e. 10%, and get to know the product first. Once you're happy using the oil and are familiar with its properties (taste, consistency, dosing method), you can then consider a higher concentration if you wish.

When deciding between concentrations, consider mainly these practical points:

  • Experience with CBD products – for your first oil, a lower concentration is easier to gradually get used to.
  • The number of drops in the bottle stays the same for both versions; only the CBD content per drop differs.
  • Price per bottle – a higher concentration usually means a higher price for the same volume of product.
  • Personal preference – if you want fewer drops per use, a higher concentration may suit you better.

What to watch out for when choosing a CBD product

Whether you choose oil, flowers or balm, when picking a specific product it's worth paying attention to a few practical things:

  • Product description and composition – check whether the product is full-spectrum or an isolate, and what its concentration is.
  • Volume and packaging – for oil, the bottle volume (10 ml) and concentration matter; for flowers, the pack weight (2 g); for balm, the total CBD content relative to the amount of cream (750 mg per 50 ml).
  • Storage conditions – oils, flowers and balm should be kept out of direct sunlight and away from children.
  • Age restriction – all CBD products in our shop are intended exclusively for people aged 18 and over.
  • Your own expectations – choose the product form based on which method of use suits you (oral drops, a different method for flowers, or external application for balm), not on which one is "strongest".

If you're not sure which product is most suitable for you as a beginner, that's fine – you can take your time looking into all three forms and, if you like, gradually try out which method of use suits you best.

Summary

For a complete beginner starting out with CBD products, the simplest choice is a CBD oil at a lower concentration, since it offers straightforward drop-based dosing and is easy to fit into a daily routine. If you're interested in a different method of use, you can try CBD flowers or topical balm – both work on a different principle from oil and are worth knowing about.
